Myanmar, also known as Burma, is located in Southeast Asia. Since the 1970’s the Burman government has been waging war against it’s own citizens, seeking to extinguish the ethnic minorities in the Karen, Arakan and Chin states by any means necessary. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, tortured, kidnapped, sexually violated, or enslaved.
One year after the devastation of Cyclone Nargis the situation in Myanmar is worse than ever. Unable to rebuild, the citizens suffer increased attacks from the government army in addition to attacks from the friend turned foe “Democratic Karen Buddhist Army”. They are being forced into refugee camps on the Myanmar/Thailand border where they are being bombed, poisoned, shot and raped.
Many of these are your Christian brothers and sisters. All of them are men and women created in God’s image.
Something must be done.

Support teams bringing medical supplies, food and God’s Word to suffering people.
- Seed project: 300,000 packets of vegetable seeds available to VBB that we can purchase for 3.5 cents per packet. Total funds needed are $10,000
- Burmese Bibles: 10,000 Burmese Bibles, at $3.50 each, are needed for Post Cyclone Nargis outreach.
- Karen Bibles: we need 3000 at $3.00 each
- Burma Orphanages: An orphanage is under construction to house 500-1000 children. Currently $84,000 is needed to finish the home.
- Burma Orphanage Program (on-going): There are 60,000-80,000 children orphaned from last year’s Cyclone Nargis. For $50,000 land can be purchased and a home built to house 100 children.
- Burmese Pastor’s Home for Orphans: VBB has committed to help a pastor in the Delta area that was so devastated by Cyclone Nargis. He has taken 28 children into his home and needs $200 per month support (he has no other support).
- Northern Burmese orphanage: An orphanage in northern Burma has 135 children and no other support. .VBB has committed to help them at $350 per month
- Burmese Methodist orphanage: needs $200 additional / month. VBB has committed to assist them with that support.
- Micro Enterprise Loans: This program has been 100% successful in Burma with people borrowing to start small enterprises, then paying off that loan. They are then qualified for larger loans for expansion, which they in turn pay back. Currently over 1,000 Burmese families are being helped. VBB needs $12,000 to assist in expanding the program for more citizens to get started in business.
